Black Death

On a purely technical standpoint, the film does not necessarily mean that the merit some attention here.
actors do not die on screen, with the notable exception of Sean Bean (Boromir in Lord of the Rings, he has also kept the haircut and clothes, to pretty much) and Carice Van Houten. The achievement is a patchwork of choice more or less convincing. If
filming handheld camera may prove beneficial in terms of immersion and establish a breathless pace to a particular scene charged with emotion or action, the bias of Christopher Smith in Black Death is to use it and abuse it.
This gives rise to some beautiful movements along wonderfully character development, but also some passages where we have more nausea due to the roll as the nature-images that are hard-distilled over minutes.
So you say, before a picture so dark, why draw your attention to this movie?
Simply because these past few things say "hardware", it contains a force, just a blackness, and undeniable potential for a beautiful adaptation for Shadows of Esteren, or any other universe where horror flirts with madness.
